I agree – you would think someone would be overseeing this growing problem! In many parts of the country, these wells were drilled decades ago before regulatory systems were in place, but still today state regulators and leaders are not holding companies accountable when it comes to fulfilling their legal obligation to clean up after themselves. I’d hope that people would be in charge of making sure all the wells are still plugged. It would be unfortunate if one wasn’t and harmed a lot of innocent people.
